Thank you for reading our new Blog. I am thrilled that our website, “Midwife Helen’s Family,” is now live. Yes, it looks a bit on the skinny side, but that is because we have yet to have all our “for sale” items listed.
We call our shop the “General Store.” The reason for that is we have some really unique items to sell. Where else can you find a nonfiction book and several Word Search puzzle books on sale together? We will also have abstract paintings and prints available.
We will have some household crafts, such as dresser scarves or hot pads, and crazy-designed T-shirts. We love bright colors and funny statements.
Please join our email list. This will keep you informed of any new items we plan to add to our inventory. You will also receive the company blog posts, keeping you up-to-date on sales.
Here is a little information about us.
I am Ann, a great-granddaughter of Helen Stanbro Olmsted. I have written a book about Helen called “Pioneer Midwife: the Helen Stanbro Olmsted Story.”
Helen was a midwife from 1868 to 1925. She was born in Illinois. She married William Wallace Olmsted. They moved first to Missouri, then to Iowa. Her father lived in Oregon, and they moved again to be near him. When her dad died, they moved to Dawson County, Nebraska.
Wallace died in 1908. Helen lived for 27 years more. She died in 1935, just six years before I was born.
My nephew, Steve, is the co-author of this page. He does the technical stuff.
